I am fortunate I was raised in a godly home.  All my life I have been tender toward the Lord, and my parents and my late paternal grandmother have been my spiritual mentors.  On Easter Sunday in 1986, I made an official profession of faith and asked Jesus Christ to be the Lord of my life.  I thank God He is so real to me.
When I attended high school, I felt as though I had been dropped into a completely immoral place, which was so very different from the protected, Christian world in which I had grown up.  While a high school sophomore in 1995, 60 Minutes aired a special report about my school, because it was ranked number one in the nation for having the highest teenage pregnancy rate per capita.  I knew I had to make a positive difference in my generation by "going against the flow."  A few years later, Ladies in Waiting was founded.
Along with Ladies in Waiting, the Lord has given me the opportunity to serve Him with several other ministries.  I have been a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School leader, youth group leader, and have been on praise and worship teams at various churches.  My sister, Rebekah, and I have sung at many churches, Christian functions, women's conferences, weddings, baby dedications, funerals, schools, parks, grand openings, and state fairs across the nation.  I especially enjoy singing contemporary Christian music, praise and worship, country, and opera!
I would have to say that the hardest time in my life came when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001.  It tore me apart to think my mother's life could be shortened.  However, instead of getting angry with God, I decided to trust Him.  I did not realize how strong my faith truly was, until I had to walk through that very dark time.  Once again, God proved Himself faithful.  My mother pulled through the surgeries and chemotherapy, and she has been cancer-free for over six years now!
Throughout my late teens and early twenties, I prayed for God to send me a godly husband.  In July 2002, I met Brent at a Bible study for singles.  Things progressed from there, and on July 12, 2003, I married the man God told me was my future husband.  God wonderfully met the desires of my heart - Brent looks exactly like the man I had been praying for.  Not only is he attractive on the outside, but most importantly, he is attractive on the inside.  God gave me the man He knew would be best for me.  I praise God we were both completely pure and virgins before we got married!  You can check out my husband's web-site at!
This is my sixth year as a fifth grade teacher.  I love my students as if they were my own children!  We own a four-year-old cream toy poodle named Kody and a eight-year-old husky named Kavika.  I pray that God will continue to use us for His ministry in even larger ways.
Through the years, I have found that when I give God 100% of my mind, body, and soul, He fills me with His peace, love, and joy.  The more I surrender to Him, the more God gives me His grace to walk in victory and not in defeat.  God is my comfort, my provider, my healer, my counselor, and my friend...He is my everything!

"For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain."
